Magaya Fraud Trial Postponed To 5 June
The trial of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder Walter Magaya has been postponed to 5 June to allow the state to complete investigations into his fraud case.
Magaya appeared in court jointly charged with his wife, Tendai, on 13 counts of fraud linked to a multi-million-dollar church housing project that allegedly failed to materialise.
The charges also extend to the couple’s companies, Planet Africa (Pvt) Ltd and Yadah Connect (Pvt) Ltd, which were represented in court by operations manager Tatenda Chinguwa.
Prosecutors requested the deferral, saying they had yet to finalise investigations into the allegations before proceeding to trial.
The state alleges that between 2016 and 2018, Magaya and his co-accused defrauded PHD Ministries congregants and other members of the public by falsely claiming to have secured land for residential stands and investment projects.
The projects were said to be in Chishawasha, Westgate, Norton, Arcturus, Ruwa, Manyame, Nyatsime, Mutare, Kwekwe and Bulawayo.
Magaya, his wife and the company representatives are expected back in court on 5 June for the case to continue, pending completion of the state’s investigations. –
