Mnangagwa meets Zaoga founder Guti’s successor
The ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries’ leadership yesterday paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa offices in Harare, where they introduced the church’s new head, Dr Joseph Joe Guti, now consecrated as Archbishop, following his succession of the late founder, Professor Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti.
Following their closed-door meeting, Archbishop Guti told journalists that he had conveyed the church’s full support of the Second Republic’s visionary policies and initiatives.
“Well, it was a courtesy call to demonstrate our support for His Excellency’s visionary leadership and to share updates on what is happening in the church of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries.
“Just last week we were celebrating 66 years since the birth of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries.
“So worldwide the church continues to grow since the departure to glory, promotion to glory of the visionary founder, Archbishop, Professor Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti,” he said.
Archbishop Guti said ZAOGA continued to strive to be a blessing to Zimbabwe and beyond.
“The church continues to grow, more buildings, more churches, more members, more nations.
“So there is peace, there is growth (and) stability in the church of ZAOGA Forward in Faith and even in our nation, the nation of Zimbabwe, the church of ZAOGA Forward in Faith contributes in many ways to nation building.
“We are continuing with the spiritual legacy that Baba Guti gave us that we remain the salt of the earth, the light of the world.
“We want to be a blessing to this nation and continue in that path,” said the new ZAOGA leader.
ZAOGA Secretary General Bishop Mishael Nyambo said Archbishop Guti had been consecrated in January, thus their visit to pay homage to the President.
“We came to see his Excellency today just to introduce to him the new Archbishop of ZAOGA Forward in Faith who was consecrated on the 25th of January 2026.
“Since that time we had not had an opportunity to introduce him to the President so the visit today was basically to introduce the new leader of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries, Archbishop Dr Joseph Joe Guti, to the President,” he said.
President Mnangagwa has continued to emphasise the church’s role in nation building.
During an Easter church gathering recently, the President commended churches for their immense contribution to national development, noting that they have been actively involved in Government programmes and community-based initiatives.
“As we go about our daily lives, may we grow in understanding our dual role of serving the Almighty God, while honouring the responsibilities given to us to develop, modernise and industrialise our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe.
“I commend the Church in general for mobilising congregants across the country to participate in our Government-led people-centred projects and programmes,” he said. *_-Herald_*
