Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Please feel free to refer to your notes. It’s important that you provide honest information.
Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) -1 am an Italian National born in 1944 in Napoli Naples, Italy to parents who were both teachers. I went to Catholic schools and eventually became a trainee priest of the Catholic Church. During my training in the late 1960s, I was sent to Africa to assist in promoting the Catholic Church. I was sent to several African Countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe (previously Rhodesia). In my capacity as a trainee priest, engaged all stakeholders and also has access to political prisoners to provide sermons and prayers.
During my training, I came across an opportunity through criminal organisations to make a fortune by exploiting African resources. I started exploring this opportunity in South Africa. I got well connected over time and was entrusted to facilitate criminal activities by using my status as a priest. However opportunities in South Africa were limited but I had gained valuable skills to explore opportunities elsewhere. In the early 1970s, I tried to compromise and corrupt the white government in then Rhodesia but failed. Realising that African countries were gradually gaining political independence from their “respective European Colonial Countries”, I took the initiative to approach and propose corrupted projects to the main political leaders against lan Smith’s Government, that was Cde Ndabaningi Sithole, President of ZANU and Cde Joshua Nkomo, President of ZAPU. I told both of them that there was a huge opportunity for personal enrichment. Both leaders refused my proposals because my ideas were regarded as retrogressive and would destroy the progressive economic development in the country.
Cde Sithole and Cde Nkomo made it clear to me that, the fight was to force lan Smith to reform political policies that recognise all races as equal. lan Smith was acknowledged by both Cde Sithole and Cde Nkomo as doing a great job of developing a great economy, despite being a racist.
Interviewer : Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Please elaborate more on your interests in Zimbabwe. What were you looking for and how?
Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) I had to look for another strategy to explore Rhodeslan resources including minerals and state funds Whilst on my routine visits to political prisoners, I discussed my proposal with various political prisoners until I identified Robert Mugabe, real name Robert Matibili, as someone who was interested in having political power over the interests of the people. Mr Mugabe and I discussed the opportunity to loot and destroy the country for personal gains. After many meetings we agreed that, I will push Cde Sithole out of ZANU and make him (Mr Mugabe) the leader. I also promised to make him (Mr Mugabe) Prime Minister of post- independence Zimbabwe and keep him in power by eliminating all threats to his leadership. In return, I wanted access to loot minerals and state funds as payment for my services. Mr Mugabe and I signed a secret contract whilst he was in prison.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Thank you for this brief background. Please tell me when you signed the secret contract. Were there anv witnesses to this agreement?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – Good questions. I signed the secret contract in 1975 just before Mr Mugabe’s release from prison. Mr Mugabe and I agreed that one Mr Simon Muzenda be trůsted with our secret agreement. In return we promised Mr Muzenda the Deputy Prime Minister Job. We also assured Mr Muzenda that it will be his political role for ‘life’.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Why was Mr Simon Muzenda trusted with the secret contract?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC)- Mr Muzenda relied on Mr Mugabe for academic and technical skills, continous mentorship and was heavily depended on Mr Mugabe for advice and decisions. Mr Mugabe would assist Mr Muzenda with reading letters he received whilst in prison and also Mr Mugabe assisted Mr Muzenda with communication to prison authorities. The reason for trusting Mr Muzenda was because he had very limited education, to manipulate and was absolutely royal to Mr Mugabe.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Please continue with your narrative.
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – When political prisoners were released from prison in 1975, I started the process of getting Mr Mugabe into power. All political figures who questioned or acted suspicious against Mr Mugabe’s elevation to power were eliminated. My first assignment was to eliminate Mr Herbert Wiltshire Chitepo. We regarded Mr Chitepo as the biggest threat to Mr Mugabe’s elevation to power because of his neutral and popular leadership qualities. Mr Chitepo was very educated and was the First Black Lawyer in Rhodesia. When Mozambique got their independence from Portugal in 1975, I played a part in persuading President Samora Machel to allow Mr Mugabe’s led freedom fighters to use Mozambique as a base to fight the Rhodesian Forces. I sought resources which included money, clothes and vehicles mainly through my church to fund ZANU PF war activities against the Rhodesian Forces,
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – How did you assist ZANU PF during the liberation struggle leading to Zimbabwe Independence in 1980 ?
Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – As I said, I asked for donations in my capacity as a priest to help Zimbabwe Freedom Fighters attain political independence. I successfully raiseda a lot of resources including money, clothes, food, tents, vehicles and facilitation of meetings to get them (freedom fighters) military training. I raised abundant resources to have huge influence to the ZANU PF Leadership. I had resources to also accommodate other political leaders from other African countries. I invited political leaders like Yoweni Museveni of Uganda to Mozambique for military training. I facilitated meeting amongst African Leaders so that Mr Mugabe got the platforms to showcase to the world their political struggles against Ian Smith. This support finally helped to get all political leaders in Rhodesia including lan Smith to negotiate a peaceful transition to independence.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Thank you for explaining how you helped Mr Mugabe before Zimbabwe’s independence. What role did you play in assuring Mr Mugabe gets the leadership of the country?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – When all stakeholders agreed to meet, I recommended Lancanster House in London as a suitable venue and offered to pay 50% of all expenses, on condition that Britian will support Mr Mugabe as the Leader of post-independent Zimbabwe. Britian accepted my offer. In September 1979, a written agreement between USA and Britian supported Mr Mugabe as the new leader in Zimbabwe. I signed the written agreement as a witness. At the end of the Lancanster House Agreement, Josiah Tongogara tried to derail the secret Lancaster Agreements by insisting that Joshua Nkomo must lead all Nationalists as leader against Ian Smith in the 1980 General Elections. Mr Mugabe and Ian Smith had made written agreements of handover of power and a memorandums of understanding, with Queen Elizabeth ll as the witness at Buckingham Palace, These agreements were completed in mid December 1979. At the last days towards the end of the Lancaster House Meetings, an agreement was made with the full support of Queen Elizabeth that Josiah Tongogara should not make it to Zimbabwe alive. After the Lancaster House Agreement in London, all political stakeholders returned their respective bases to prepare for the 1980 General Elections in Zimbabwe. Initially Josiah Tongogara wanted to fly back to Zimbabwe via Kenya but was persuaded by to travel by road after I arranged brand new vehicles used to return to Zimbabwe. I had compromised òf top ZANU PF leaders (names witheld) by offering ministrial posts in the new government if they ensured Tongogara assasination before he returned to Zimbabwe. Josiah Tongogara was assasinated on 26 December 1979 and cause of death was disguised as a car accident. This assasination cleared the path for a smooth hand over of power from Ian Smith to Mr Mugabe.
Interviewer:Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – How did you help Mr Mugabe settle in his new role as Prime Minister ?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – After we manipulated the 1980 General Elections in ZANU PF favour, I started exploring and identifying threats to Mugabe’s Government. I instructed Mr Mugabe to create a cemetery to account for all people identified as his threats to leadership. The main objective was to ensure all my work of eliminating threats to Mr Mugabe leadership be properly accounted for the purpose of my payments. The cemetery is called the National Heroes Acre based in Harare. The criteria of recognising heroes in Zimbabwe is only done after one dies because only successful assasinations are eligible for payments and burial at the Heroes Acre was evidence of payment due. In some cases we would bury people at the National Heroes Acre against the wish of their families because my payment took priority. Declaring someone a National Hero remains subjective because it only served Mr Mugabe and my personal interests. I eliminated political rivals for financial gain and Mr Mugabe gained political mileage. I never trusted that Joshua Nkomo will truly embrace Mr Mugabe’s leadership. I initiated what was known as Gukurahundi in the early 1980s to destroy Joshua Nkomo and PF Zapu’s political capacity to form a government. Gukurahundi allowed me to created lies that Joshua Nkomo’s PF ZAPU was plotting a coup d’eta against the government. This weakened PF ZAPU and also created our first major loothole to access and loot public funds. I created fictious payment requests to treasury disguised as payments to North Korea to train an army section of the Zimbabwe National Army called the 5th Brigade to counter PF ZAPU plans of removing the Mugabe regime from power. All payments that were released by the treasury of Zimbabwe Government in relation to support the 5th Brigade, were re-directed to me as my payments for service rendered to keep the Mr Mugabe regime in power. Gukurahundi ended when a Unity Agreement called the Unity Accord was signed on the 22″ December 1987. I received payments between 1981 to 1987 estimated to be Z$9 million. This amount was not enough for my services rendered. In early 1988 I requested for more payments. Mr Mugabe told me that the system was too robust to manipulate. In 1988, after the Unity Accord that was signed between ZANU PF and PF ZAPU I received a further payment of Z$1 million disguised as consultancy work done in uniting all political parties in Zimbabwe. After this payment I was told there were no lootholes, hence no more payments would be availed. Hence, I had to find other options to create lootholes in the system.
Interviewer: ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – I understand why you initiated Gukurahundi but do you feel it was justified to kill thousands of people in Matebeleland just to get precious minerals and access state funds?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC)- Mr Mugabe had no capacity to pay for my services either in his personal capacity or through government. The lan Smith Regime had left a ‘water tight” and robust system that protected public funds and the country’s resources. I saw Gukurahundi as a way to create lootholes to access public funds. It’s regretable that people were compromised by paying with their lives. Even when Mr Mugabe was asked about Gukurahundi, he only said, “It was a moment of madness’. The main reason for Gukurahundi was to access public funds. It was just business.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Thank you Mr Carzilletti for being absolutely honest with me, although this information you just availed is extremely disturbing. Would you consider paying compensation to the victims of Gukurahundi?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – The payment for services rendered for helping Mr Mugabe to get and retain power for 37 years still remain outstanding. I want my payment settled in full. I was forced to do more work during Mr Mugabe’s Leadership to get the regime to pay.
Interviewer: ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Please elaborate what you mean by doing more work! I thought keeping Mr Mugabe in power was your only job. Correct me if I am wrong.
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) After the payment of Z$1 million in 1988 payments dried up. I threatened to quit my role of working for Mr Mugabe and expose all Mr Mugabe’s secrets including the use of his fake name and his contribution to the killing of President Samora Machel. In response, Mr Mugabe arranged that we meet in London and agree on a way forward. After the meeting, we agreed that I continue to work on protecting Mr Mugabe’s leadership but for more money with interest. I devised a plan to devalue the Zimbabwe Dollar after the end of the Lancaster Agreement in 1990. I was also forced to continue eliminating political elements that threaten the Mugabe Administration.
Interviewer:’Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Please explain how you operated and eliminted political elements. Do political elements mean people ? If there are people you eliminated, please provide names and how you charged for these services.
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – Mr Mugabe inherited a highly developed functional economy in 1980. Gradually the Zimbabwe economy started to deteriorate and neutrally there was resentment from influencial political figures who had potential to derail my plans. The first option was to bribe. If bribing fails then we eliminate.
Interviewer : Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) Does eliminate mean to kill physically or politically?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – Good question Jack, If I can’t bribe then will try to silence my enemies by using their political weakness or threaten and expose secrets that would destroy them.
Interviewer: ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) -If all these options fail what will you do?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – I will have to physically kill through various
methods that include, poisioning, using fake car accidents or abuductions as a warning to would-be rebels against the government. I hope you get the picture.
Interviewer:’Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Please provide names of people you killed physically especially those who threatened Mr Mugabe’s leadership.
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – Unfortunately the list is too long. For easy references, please check the names of those buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare. Either for Mr Mugabe it meant more political mileage and for me it meant more payments. It was a win-win situation between us. I will focus on the most prominent people I eliminated by killing them physically for threating Mr Mugabe’s leadership who include the following: Herbert Chitepo, Jason Ziyababa Moyo, Josiah Tongogara, Lookout Masuku, Moven Mahachi, Chris Ushewekunze, Ariston Chambati, Chenjerai Hunzwi, Learnmore Jongwe, Itai Dzamara, George Silundika, just to mention a few.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – Are you confirming you killed all these people ?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – Yes, it was necessary to achieve my interests.
Interviewer : ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – So you are a murderer Mr Pablolini Carzilletti?
Interviewee: Pablollini Carzilletti (PC) – I was only doing my job.
Interviewer: ‘Jack’ Secret Agency (SA512) – No need to be emotional Mr Carzillet.
As we agreed, this interview remains classified. We are only after the
truth. I am satisfied that you are being honest with me. Let’s take a break.
