The Quiet Heroes Among Us: Nominations Open for The List Awards 2026

Many do it with little fanfare, no expectation of applause—only the hope of a better tomorrow. Now, The List Awards 2026 is calling on everyone to help shine a light on these everyday heroes.
Nominations are officially opened from June 15 to July 26, 2026, launching a nationwide and regional search for individuals whose selfless actions have created unmistakable impact over at least five years.
“Behind every thriving community is someone whose contribution may never make the headlines, yet whose work changes lives,” says Pastor Philani Nyatsanza, Board Chairperson of The List Awards.
“The List Awards exists to honor these quiet leaders, innovators, community builders, and champions of humanity whose impact deserves recognition.”
Established to celebrate those who embody the African values of Hunhu/Ubuntu the deep sense of interconnectedness and compassion the awards are now in their latest edition, recognizing truly transformative changemakers. From Harare to Nairobi, from small villages to bustling cities, the awards cast a wide net to capture diverse kinds of impact.

There is no nomination fee , and the process is open to all individuals aged 18 years and above who have made verifiable contributions for a minimum of five years.

Mr Nyatsanza further explained that the power of these awards lies in what they reveal, a hidden landscape of diligence, determination, and heart. Each year, The List Awards amplify voices and stories that rarely make headlines but whose everyday work echoes in hundreds of lives.
“The List Awards honor the kind of leadership we find on the ground in Africa. Not always powerful or wealthy people, just those who show up for their communities, year after year,” says Nyatsanza.
