Davido announces highly anticipated 6th studio album ‘Oriadé

Afrobeats royalty is preparing to claim his throne once again.

Gobal powerhouse Davido has officially announced the arrival of his highly anticipated 6th studio album, “Oriadé”, set to drop on July 31.

The announcement sent shockwaves across social media as Davido teased the forthcoming project with a cinematic album trailer.

The visuals offer a first glimpse into what is being described as his most intentional, honest and expansive body of work to date. A deeply reflective era exploring themes of legacy, community and African excellence.

“ORIADÉ 👑 31ST JULY. The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne,” Davido captioned the post.

Derived from the Yoruba words “Ori” (head, destiny) and “Adé” (crown), “Oriadé” literally translates to “the crown follows destiny”.

“The title embodies a journey toward purpose, fulfilment, and stepping into the life you were always meant to lead,” shared a statement.

The timing of the album is no coincidence. “Oriadé” arrives as Davido celebrates a milestone 15 years in the music industry, which finds the megastar looking inward, reflecting on family, brotherhood, gratitude and the enduring spirit of Nigerian excellence that shaped him.

In an intimate statement about the project, Davido shared: “‘Oriadé’ is about purpose. It’s about understanding that before the world recognises you, before the accolades, before the success, there’s a version of you that already knows who you’re meant to become.

“Over the last fifteen years, I’ve experienced some of the highest highs and some of the toughest moments of my life, but every step has strengthened my faith in where God is taking me. Oriadé means ‘the crown follows destiny’.

“This project is about embracing who you are, where you come from and what you’re called to do. It’s the most honest I’ve ever been, and I can’t wait for the world to experience it.”

The album announcement comes hot on the heels of the lead single, “I Know Who I Be”, an affirmation of self-belief that serves as the opening chapter to this new musical book.

While “I Know Who I Be” embodies the certainty that comes with embracing your identity, “Oriadé” promises to zoom out and reflect on the gruelling, beautiful path that made that certainty possible.

Davido’s transition into this new era follows one of the most explosive chapters of his career. He recently wrapped up the “5ive Alive Tour”, the largest African concert tour of 2025, which sold out 42 dates across 12 countries and four continents.

He also made a historic debut on the Coachella stage and earned a nomination for the smash-hit single “With You”, featuring Omah Lay.

Most recently, he lent his star power to the official Fifa World Cup 2026 soundtrack album with the single “No Place Like Home” alongside Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado, followed by a landmark performance at the tournament’s countdown concert in Los Angeles.
