2030 Push: Mhondoro Mubaira MP Ramps Up Schools, Clinics and Police Bases

Mashonaland West – Mhondoro Mubaira MP Hon Chamu Chiwanza says he is driving an aggressive development drive to meet government’s Vision 2030 targets, with projects spanning education, health, security and roads.

In an interview, Chiwanza said the countdown to 2030 means clearing both new and inherited projects.

“We’ve been given until 2030 to fulfil our mandates. So we are going hard and aggressive on making sure we finish projects, even those that were left by other MPs that came before us,” he said.

Frustrated by slow disbursements, Chiwanza said he has channeled personal resources into key works. “I am now using my own resources. CDF came and it didn’t do much. But now I’m using my own resources. I want to see it completed,” he said.

He said delivery is being done with ward leadership, including Councillor Christopher Mudimbu, “to make sure these developments reach every corner of the constituency.”

In education, Chiwanza said he has worked on Gonza and is currently building a school at Ne’u. At St Catherine Chimatira he funded cement, door and window frames, and the roof for a classroom block, and deployed his company staff for labour.

On health and welfare, a mothers’ shelter is under construction at Neuso Business Centre, while a clinic is being built at Manyewe in Chinove.

Chiwanza also announced new community infrastructure. “In Ward 5 at Rwizi Business Centre we also want to start constructing a hall and we have already provided all the resources for the project,” he said.

To strengthen policing, ZRP bases are being rolled out. “I’m building police bases all over. There’s a police base at Dzumbunu. We’ve built a police base in Ward 15. There must be another police base coming up in Chingwere. So all this is happening.” Accommodation for officers is also being provided at the Ward 15 base.

Road rehabilitation has started in Ward 4 and will be extended. “We are also going ahead with road rehabilitation already in Ward 4. We wish to spread it across the constituency,” he said.

On connectivity, Chiwanza said technology is part of the plan. “We are also going to provide 60 percent of our schools with Star Link Wifi in the Constituency.”

He noted that the listed projects represent just part of the work underway. “These projects are a few of the initiatives that we have done.”

Residents have welcomed the push, saying the projects are bringing services closer to communities.

With four years to 2030, Chiwanza said the priority is finishing stalled works and ensuring every ward gets tangible infrastructure.
