Presidential adviser Paul Tungwarara, businessman Chahwanda and flamboyant preacher Passion Java led a spectacular display of generosity as Prophet Walter Magaya celebrated his 43rd birthday at a star-studded event in Waterfalls, Harare.
The PHD Ministries founder received financial pledges worth at least US$1.05 million during the lavish *Night of Turn Around* celebrations, which brought together prominent businesspeople, politicians, church members and entertainment personalities.
Tungwarara reportedly handed Magaya US$350,000, while Hadrock chairman Chahwanda matched the amount with another US$350,000.
Prophet Passion Java and his team pledged US$300,000, adding to the massive financial contributions made during the celebrations.
Mr Pande also contributed US$50,000, while businessman and politician Scott Sakupwanya promised Magaya a private birthday gift, whose value was not disclosed.
The financial pledges announced during the event totalled US$1.05 million, although the US$300,000 pledge from Java’s team and other promised gifts should not be confused with confirmed payments.
*Choir member gets car and US$300,000 house*
One of the evening’s most emotional moments came when Magaya turned the spotlight on long-serving PHD Ministries choir member Hillary, who received generous gifts in recognition of his service.
Tungwarara gifted Hillary a car, while Sakupwanya pledged to buy him a house valued at US$300,000.
The house pledge, which was separate from Sakupwanya’s private birthday gift promised to Magaya, left the choir member visibly overwhelmed with emotion.
The gesture became one of the standout moments of the celebrations, drawing an emotional response from the congregation.
*Top musicians light up the celebrations*
Away from the financial pledges and gift presentations, the birthday celebration was also a major entertainment spectacle.
A star-studded musical line-up featuring Tamy Moyo, Jah Signal, Mambo Dhuterere, Silent Killer, Fusion 5 Mangiwiro, Snowy and King Alfa kept guests entertained throughout the night.
Magaya and his wife, Amai Magaya, also joined guests on the dance floor as the celebrations continued into the night.
*A night of millions and generosity*
With financial pledges exceeding US$1 million, a car gifted to a long-serving choir member and a separate US$300,000 house pledge from Sakupwanya, Magaya’s 43rd birthday celebration was marked by extravagant gifts, generosity and entertainment.
The event once again placed the PHD Ministries founder’s birthday celebrations in the spotlight, with the scale of the announced contributions becoming a major talking point. *_-Various_*
