African Union to institutionalize Office of Youth Envoy

The African Union has decided to institutionalize the Office of the Youth Envoy, led by Chido Mpemba

The Office of the African Union Commission Youth Envoy (AUCYE) was finally given green light towards its institutionalisation by the African Union almost a week ago.

H.E. Ms. Chido Cleopatra Mpemba presented and defended her request on behalf of the millions of youth across the continent for the Office of the Youth Envoy to be institutionalized during the Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Sports & Arts meeting held at the African Union Heaq Quarters in Addis Ababa.

“Our youth represent a large portion of our population in the continent, and they play a vital role towards the goal of attaining the Africa we want and towards Agenda 2063,” emphasized Ms. Mpemba duding her presentations to the committee in making the request.

The 4th Session of the Special Technical Committee on Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture was held between 22-26 May at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

According to the United Nations, Africa has the youngest population in the world, with 70% of sub-Saharan Africa under the age of 30.

The institutionalisation of the Office of the Youth Envoy by the African Union is going to be a giant leap forward towards the attaining aspirations of Africa’s youth.
