Chegutu Pirates veteran defender Rueben Machaya is confident they will dislodge Black Mambas from the top of the Northern Region Division One Soccer league log on Saturday when they lock horns in a title-deciding match to be played at Pfupajena Stadium in Chegutu.
Pirates are sitting on the second position in the league with 65 points, two points behind Mambas, and, a win will leapfrog the Chegutu community team to the apex of the log leaving them with high chances of earning promotion to domestic Premier leagueas they will face Herentals at the same in their last encounter
Mambas have been perched at the top of the standings for almost the whole season but Pirates believe its time to dethrone the police dudes.
“Mambas were on top since season onset and are aiming to cling on by hook or crook but we will disappoint them.”
” We are well aware that they will frustrate us by employing dirty delaying tactics as they will be satisfied with a draw at the end of the game but we will not budge.”
“We just need to be composed and be in an uncompromising gear,” said Machaya
He also urged their supporters to be patient and encouragingly cheer the youngsters up to the final whistle.
” We command a huge following and they must be inspirational throughout the game.”
“We know our supporters will be recipients of insults thus I urge them to remain calm and never retaliate.
“Supporters must just sing and dance and we will deliver.”
Pirates link-cum-striker Peter Bero said the much-talked about duel is one of their easiest tasks.
“We know the pressure that Mambas have and we also know how to deal with that.
“Mambas are a good side as testified by the period they took at the top but I promise they will leave Chegutu embarrassed.”
“We haven’t been beaten at home and we will protect that home record till the end of season”
