Unity in the Face of Adversity: UANC President Leads Charge Against Cholera and Economic Downturn
Harare, Zimbabwe – Addressing a press conference in Harare today, the President of the United African National Council (UANC), Dr. Gwinyai Muzorewa, called upon all Zimbabweans to set aside their differences and work together to address pressing issues such as the Cholera outbreak and the plummeting economy. Dr. Muzorewa, a prominent figure in the recent 2023 Presidential Election, expressed deep concern over the lack of political will and unity of purpose in the country, emphasizing that polarization is negatively impacting all sectors of the economy.
Highlighting the ongoing Cholera pandemic and the recall of elected councilors, Dr. Muzorewa lamented the absence of effective central government policies to combat such challenges. He stressed the urgent need for unity among political leaders and citizens alike, citing examples of his late brother, Bishop Abel Muzorewa, and former President Robert Mugabe, who compromised and united for the sake of national development.
“Zimbabweans must value the sanctity of unity,” stated Dr. Muzorewa, who is also the younger brother of the late Bishop Abel Muzorewa. “Our nation has witnessed the power of unity in the past. It is high time we work together towards a common goal for the betterment of our country.”
Addressing the recent budget presentation, Dr. Muzorewa criticized it as being futile in the face of the government’s continued use of the US dollar while presenting the budget in RTGS.
“Zimbabweans deserve better,” urged Dr. Muzorewa. “Our economy is in dire straits, and the health of our citizens is at risk. It is time for us to come together, put aside our personal agendas, and work towards finding solutions to these pressing issues.”
The UANC President’s plea for unity and his call for a united front against the current challenges resonated with many Zimbabweans who have been grappling with the devastating effects of the Cholera outbreak and the deteriorating economy.
As Zimbabweans continue to navigate these troubled times, the words of Dr. Gwinyai Muzorewa serve as a reminder of the power of unity in overcoming adversity and working towards a brighter future for the nation. Only through collective efforts can Zimbabwe emerge stronger and more resilient in the face of these pressing challenges.
