Chegutu honors Zacky Banda

Chegutu Town Council sports coordinator Zacky Banda has been honored for the role he played in weaning youths from delinquencies and modeling them to be reputable sports personalities
Banda was presented with a golden portrait of his totem and shield by ceremony organizer Victor Zimani while others showered him with various gifts appreciating their success in life came through his dedication
Chegutu Mayor Rydes Machekera eulogized organizers for honoring living legends.
“It’s quite exceptional and it shows much respect awarding legends while they are still alive.
” You know It’s very bad to give someone honor when he has passed on.”
Machekera also assured the community that he will work hand in glove with organizers to recognize all who have positively influenced the lives of other people.
“A precedent has been set that has to be adhered to.”
“Let’s collaborate and bring forth all who have done good for our beautiful town so we devise how best to reward them while they are living.
Guest of honor Prince Matore, a product of Chegutu junior football development and now coaching Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League outfit Chicken Inn, ran short of superlatives to describe Banda’s good deeds.
“It is through Banda’s tolerance and guidance that I am where I am today.
“I played in Zimbabwe and abroad all because of how Zacky modeled me.
“If I am to narrate all, we will spend days here,” said Matore.
Chegutu Pirates coach Emmanuel “Day” Gutu pledged monthly tithe to Mr Banda.
“I am pledging 10% of my salary to the welfare of my mentor and I want this recorded”
“For me to be a coach it’s because of Zacky Banda’s motivation
“For Pirates to attain premier status this season it’s through my mentor’s wisdom and advice,” Gutu revealed
