Debt Dispute Turns Violent: Father Shoots Son Over US$300 Debt

In a shocking incident in Borrowdale, a father has been arrested after shooting his own son over a US$300 debt.

28-year-old man, Kudakwashe Zimba, is fighting for his life at Parirenyatwa Hospital after being shot twice by his own father, Moses Zimba (51).

Arrest and Charges: Father Faces Attempted Murder Case

Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, confirmed the incident which happened at a house along Philadelphia Road in Borrowdale.

She disclosed that authorities have arrested Moses Zimba, and he is currently facing an attempted murder case.

“Police arrested a Borrowdale man in connection with attempted murder.

Circumstances are that the accused person is the biological father to the complainant,” Assistant-Inspector Mapisa said.

Details of the Shooting Incident

According to H-Metro, the incident unfolded on Monday when Kudakwashe visited his father’s house to collect a debt owed to him. He demanded the full amount of US$300, but Moses Zimba only provided US$20 and promised to send the remainder to Kudakwashe’s wife.

Moses retreated into the house and left his son Kudakwashe waiting outside by the remote-controlled gate. Moments later, Moses emerged, and he ordered his son to leave his house. Despite the demands, Kudakwashe expressed his desire to see the ongoing projects at the house.

In a sudden turn of events, Moses Zimba pulled out a firearm from his pocket and fired two shots at his son, striking him in the belly and waist.

Kudakwashe Zimba was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The accused, Moses Zimba, now faces serious legal consequences as authorities pursue the attempted murder case against him.
