Robbers Musa Taj Abdul, Charles Lundu and Sean Andile Dhlamini sentenced to 52 years in jail each

A Harare regional magistrate has handed down lengthy prison sentences to three men convicted of multiple armed robberies that took place in the suburb of Borrowdale.

Musa Taj Abdul, Charles Lundu, and Sean Andile Dhlamini were found guilty of 13 counts of armed robbery. Magistrate Ignatio Mhene issued individual sentences for each crime.

For the first robbery, each man received 10 years in prison. The remaining 12 robberies were combined and reduced to 7 counts. They were given 7 years for each of these consolidated counts.

In total, the trio was sentenced to 52 years imprisonment each. However, some of the time was suspended. 8 years were conditionally suspended provided the men do not reoffend in the next 5 years.

An additional 4 years were suspended on the condition that the men pay back US$2,416 to the victim of the first robbery by March 30th. A further 2 years were conditionally suspended on condition that they restitute US$1,070 to other victims.

After accounting for the suspended time, the three robbers must effectively serve 38 years behind bars for their series of armed robberies.
