Temba Mliswa’s Daughter Remanded in Custody Until Trial Commences
M’diwa was arrested following a tip-off to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs. She will remain in custody until trial commences on 12 March after being denied bail.
M’diwa Chanetsa appeared in court together with her co-accused, Tawanda Chigubu (27), facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs as defined in section 157(i)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act chapter 9:23 as read with section 14(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act chapter 15:02.
Details of the Arrest
On February 22, 2024, at around noon, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs received information that M’diwa and her boyfriend had drugs at a residence in Avonlea, Harare.
Acting upon this information, the detectives went to the location, identified themselves, and conducted a search. During the search, they discovered a sachet containing methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as ecstasy, hidden under a sofa in the dining room.
The drugs, weighing approximately 1.30 grams and valued at ZW$195,000, were recorded as evidence to be presented in court during the trial.
