FORUS Party Disavows Former Spokesperson, Decries Privacy Breach by Gambakwe Media

By Own Correspondent

FORUS Party has issued a robust statement to set the record straight following recent controversies involving its former spokesperson, Thandazani Moyo, and a breach of privacy by Gambakwe Media.

“Mr. Thandazani Moyo is no longer a member of FORUS Party. He resigned from his position as Spokesperson and revoked his membership in July 2023. Therefore, his views and opinions do not represent those of FORUS Party.”, said the statement

The party’s declaration comes in response to Mr. Moyo’s public assertions on Gambakwe Media, alleging FORUS Party’s involvement in protests against the government, claims vehemently refuted by the organization.

“We categorically refute, deny, and dismiss with contempt the notion that FORUS Party is involved in any alleged demonstration against a sitting government. Such claims are baseless and unfounded. FORUS Party upholds the principles of peaceful and democratic means to address issues and advocate for electoral reforms.”

Furthermore, FORUS Party expressed profound regret over the unauthorized disclosure of a private conversation involving its President, Manyara Irene Muyenziwa, and the SADC Secretariat, facilitated by Mr. Moyo.

“We deeply regret this breach of trust and violation of privacy by Mr. Gambakwe,” the statement continued.

Despite these challenges, FORUS Party reaffirmed its amicable relations with the Southern African Development Community (SADC), emphasizing collaborative efforts on electoral reforms in the region.

“We have engaged diplomatically with SADC on issues related to electoral reforms and irregularities. It is important to note that SADC does not have a legal basis to order and supervise fresh elections in Zimbabwe. Our engagement with SADC is focused on constructive dialogue and collaboration to promote democratic electoral standards in Southern Africa.”

The party acknowledged SADC’s pivotal role in promoting democratic governance and peace while recognizing the limitations in enforcing recommendations.
