Ambassador Tamer Almassri has condemned as “shameful and a speech full of lies and hate” by Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
While addressing the US Congress Netanyahu laid bare the hypocrisy and double standards regarding the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza.
Ambassador Almassri said Netanyahu attacked all progressive nations and protesters who have stood in solidarity with the people of Palestine, accusing them of being anti-Semitic.
“Israel is flouting UN Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire blatantly undermining efforts for peace and stability in the region. No words of eloquence, lies and charisma by Israeli fascist leader Netanyahu will cover the war crimes or shield him from accountability before international law,” said Dr Almassri.
He said US must realize that its blind support for the Israeli occupation state, providing it with weapons, money, political support and standing against international legitimacy, holds it responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
“We appreciate efforts by protesters worldwide in standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and over 50 United States of America congressmen who boycotted Netanyahu’s empty speech which jeopardises the prospect of peace in the region,” said the Palestine Ambassador.
“If the world is truly eager to achieve security and peace in the region, it must compel Netanyahu’s government to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people. The Palestinian people will not leave their land and will continue to resist the Israeli occupation through all means necessary permitted at international law to achieve their independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital,” said Dr Almassri.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army is committing systematic and repeated crimes against civilians, including killings, mass massacres, starvation, preventing humanitarian aid, forced displacement, and the destruction of properties especially on eastern Khan Yunis which coincides with the forced displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, amid catastrophic humanitarian and medical conditions as a result of the intense and violent occupation raids.
The Palestinian death toll from Israel’s deadly aggression against the Gaza Strip has now surged to 39,145.
