Kadoma City Hosts Thrilling Inaugural City School Games
The City of Kadoma successfully hosted the inaugural City School Games over the weekend, bringing together top talent from Kadoma, Chegutu Municipality, and City of Mutare. The three-day event, held at various venues across Kadoma, featured five exciting sports disciplines: soccer, netball, volleyball, handball, and basketball.
Over 500 students participated in the games, showcasing their skills and teamwork in a spirit of friendly competition. The event aimed to promote sports development, unity, and socialization among young athletes from different cities.
Kadoma City Mayor, His Worship Nigel Isheanesu Ruzario, officially opened the games, emphasizing the importance of sports in shaping future leaders. “Sports play a vital role in developing discipline, teamwork, and perseverance in our youth. We are proud to host this event and look forward to seeing our young athletes shine,” he said.
The games saw some thrilling matches, with Kadoma City schools dominating in soccer and netball, while Chegutu Municipality excelled in volleyball and handball. City of Mutare showed impressive skills in basketball.
The closing ceremony saw awards presented to the winning teams and individuals, with Kadoma City being crowned overall champions.
The inaugural City School Games have set a high standard for future events, promoting unity and sports development among cities. The success of the games is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the host cities and the enthusiasm of the young athletes.
Plans are already underway for next year’s edition, with more cities expected to participate.
