High Court Finally Settles Mupamombe Housing Wrangle

High Court Judge, Justice Manongwa-Munangati has finally put to rest the six-year Mupamombe Housing Project wrangle after an interim order was granted in favour of the applicant, Mupamombe Housing Co-operation Scheme, pending the determination of the matter compelling the respondents, Mupamombe Housing Project, Exavier Chibasa, Munashe Chidyamazana, Financial Mirirai, Naison Naison, Antony Mapindani, Phainos Chitongo, Kennedy Paridzira and Munyaradzi Kajokoto as the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,8th,9th and 11th Respondents respectively to show cause why the Final Order should not be granted.

The applicant, Mupamombe Housing Co-operative had made an Urgent Chamber application on May 21 under HCH 2237/24 trying to rectify an earlier High Court order.

Justice Manongwa-Munangati granted the Interim Order in case HCH 10206/18 dated 10 May 2024 be and is hereby stayed and barred Mupamombe Housing Project and other respondents whether by their own act or through the acts of their employees, agents, proxies or any other person from selling and distributing housing stands in a settlement known as Mupamombe, Ingezi Kadoma.

Mupamombe Housing Cooperative Society Limited came into existence in 2002 as a housing scheme and was later registered as a cooperative in term of Cooperative Societies Act (Chap 24:05) on May 13,2019. The government had ceded a piece of land known as Mupamombe, Ingezi, Kadoma with a 846 housing stands situated 8km from Kadoma central business district in Ingezi residential area and its primary objective was to provide housing stands to members of the public service but ended up also accomodating individuals of the non-public service.

The Interim Order has seen the Mupamombe Housing Cooperative Society back into the custody of Chairperson Francis Machidha, Secretary Shadreck Nyoni and Treasure Elmon Mahaya.
