Ngezi United FC’s Under 17 Team Wins Silver Medal in Gweru Tournament

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Ngezi United FC’s Under 17 soccer team clinched the silver medal in the prestigious Charles White Tournament held in Gweru. The team narrowly lost 1-0 to Jemisa Academy of Gweru in the finals.

 

The tournament, sponsored by Marshal Gore, brought together top teams from Mutare, Bulawayo, Harare, Chinyoyi, and Masvingo, showcasing the growing talent and competitiveness of Zimbabwean youth soccer. Participating teams included Jemise Academy (Gweru), Rise of Hope Academy (Gweru), All-Stars Bullets (Gweru), BG Rising Stars (Bulawayo), Majesa Academy (Mutare), and Ngezi United (Kadoma).

 

Ngezi United FC, currently competing in Division 2 Mashonaland West, boasts a robust youth development program with teams in various age groups, including Under 17, 15, 13, and 10 boys, as well as Under 17 and 12 girls.

 

Director Coster Munjanganja expressed his gratitude to the technical team, parents, and the entire Ingezi and Kadoma community for their unwavering support. He also thanked Gas 2 U company and Team Treasure, Kudakwashe Vhama, for their contributions. Gas 2 U has been instrumental in promoting players and community members with job opportunities in Kadoma.

 

Coster also acknowledged the valuable advice from UK-based Mr. Godfrey Muneri, who encouraged him to form Ngezi United FC. Additionally, he thanked Mr. Elijah Tambala, Mashonaland West Province Chairperson of Men BelievED, and Mr. Rembekani, Director of Father Flower Academy, for their support in nurturing young talents.

 

“We are proud of our young players’ achievement and thank everyone who contributed to their success. This silver medal is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.”

 

The team received a silver medal, jerseys, and soccer balls, and was scouted by talent scouts. The tournament was held at Mukoba Stadium.

 

Ngezi United FC’s success indicates that their developmental program is on track. With community support and technical guidance, the future looks promising.

 

Notable mentions goes to the team technical Advisor, soccer legend, Rodwell Chinyengetere whose son Romaldo Chinyengetere is following in his father’s footsteps and also Tanaka Chikuza (goalkeeper) who saved the team at the tournament with his impressive skills.
