Douglas Mzonzora faces near arrest after harassing female staff at a hotel in UK
Douglas Mwonzora, the leader of the MDC, faced a chaotic incident at a Premier Inn hotel in Oxford, resulting in a ban after he allegedly harassed female staff members during the early hours of Saturday.
The disturbances began around 3 a.m. when Mwonzora, reportedly inebriated, arrived at the hotel seeking a room. He was accused of racially screaming at the two staff members, questioning their English proficiency.
“Why is it that none of you here can speak proper English?” Mwonzora reportedly shouted at the uniformed women, who were effectively communicating with other customers prior to his arrival.
The Zimbabwean politician was attempting to secure a place to stay before traveling to Manchester Airport.
Despite boasting about his wealth—claiming to own a dairy farm that produces 12,000 liters of milk daily—Mwonzora’s attempts to pay for his room were thwarted when his First Capital Visa card was repeatedly declined. “There’s no way my card can fail, I have a lot of money in this account,” he insisted to the staff, adding that his son manages the farm and is “very quiet” compared to him.
After failing to complete the transaction, Mwonzora was assisted by fellow guest Simba Chikanza, who paid for their rooms. However, in a surprising turn of events, Mwonzora immediately ascended to Chikanza’s room before the payment was finalized. Moments later, he returned to the reception to express his disdain for Chikanza’s presence, insisting he did not want to see his benefactor.
The incident raised concerns about Mwonzora’s behavior, leading the hotel to take action by banning him from the premises.
