Munyaradzi High School recently held its prize-giving day, celebrating academic excellence and student achievements. However, the event was overshadowed by concerns raised by Headmaster Mr. Mupfiri regarding two pressing issues affecting the school community: teenage pregnancy and bullying.

In his address, Mr. Mupfiri revealed that 15 Form 1 and 2 learners had dropped out of school due to pregnancy. This staggering number highlights the challenges faced by young students in balancing education and personal struggles. “The loss of 15 talented learners to pregnancy is a wake-up call for all of us,” Mr. Mupfiri emphasized. “We must recognize the vulnerability of our students and work together to create a supportive environment that encourages them to stay in school.”

Furthermore, Mr. Mupfiri addressed the issue of bullying, which has plagued the school in recent times. “Bullying is a cancer that must be eradicated before it gets out of hand,” he stressed. “We urge students, teachers, parents, and the community to play their part in promoting a culture of kindness, respect, and inclusivity.”

Hon. Gift Mapimbiri, Member of Parliament for Kadoma Central, attended the event and reinforced the importance of education and empowerment, particularly for young women.

To combat these challenges, Munyaradzi High School plans to intensify its guidance and counseling services for students, establishing support groups for pregnant learners and young mothers. The school will also implement anti-bullying programs and workshops, fostering community partnerships to provide resources and mentorship.

The prize-giving day ceremony acknowledged outstanding students, including those who excelled academically and in extracurricular activities. However, the underlying message remained clear: education and personal growth must be protected and nurtured.

As Munyaradzi High School moves forward, the community is urged to unite in addressing these critical issues. By working together, they can create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students can thrive.

“We owe it to our children to provide a haven where they can grow, learn, and succeed,” Mr. Mupfiri concluded. “Let us join hands to build a brighter future for Munyaradzi High School and beyond.”
