Man United players to blame, not Erik ten Hag – Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire says Manchester United’s players must accept responsibility for their poor start to the season and take the pressure off Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag’s job is on the line after a dismal start to the season, which has seen United win just three of their opening nine games in all competitions. United have failed to win any of their last four games and needed a 91st-minute equaliser from Maguire to draw 3-3 in Porto on Thursday, having led 2-0.
Ten Hag’s side also suffered humiliating back-to-back 3-0 Premier League defeats at home to Liverpool and Tottenham, which have nudged him closer to the sack. Against that backdrop, Ten Hag knows he cannot afford to lose at Aston Villa today, if he is to be sure of keeping his job after the international break.
