Harare Woman Sheds Light On 3-Year Marital Ordeal Alleges Bedroom Ban Over Pastor Affair Accusation

In a shocking revelation at the Harare Civil Court, Memory Manyangadze disclosed that she had been forced to sleep in the passage of her home for the past three years after being locked out of her bedroom by her husband, Reginald Tuhwe. The drastic action, she claimed, stemmed from unfounded accusations by her husband that she was involved in an extramarital affair with their church pastor.

According to Memory, her husband began suspecting her of infidelity after coming across messages on her phone, which he interpreted as evidence of a romantic relationship with the pastor. In retaliation, Reginald barred her from their marital bedroom, an extreme measure that left her with no option but to sleep in the passage for years.

“Three years ago, he locked our bedroom and threw my belongings onto the passage. That’s where I have been sleeping ever since,” testified Memory during the court proceedings. She went on to explain that whenever she attempted to regain access to the bedroom, her husband would physically assault her, reinforcing his refusal to let her back into the room.

Memory described the messages that fueled Reginald’s suspicion as innocent, asserting that his accusations were entirely fabricated. Despite her claims of innocence, her husband remained adamant that he had caught her exchanging affectionate messages with their pastor, which, to him, was proof of her alleged affair.

“I was suspecting my wife of cheating, and I caught her exchanging sweet words with our pastor on her phone. She is a liar and a cheat,” Reginald argued in court, showing no remorse for his decision to ban her from their shared bedroom.

The court presided over by Magistrate Mandlenkosi Ndlovu, took a firm stance on the issue, granting Memory a protection order against her husband. The magistrate also ordered Reginald to return the keys to a tuckshop that Memory had been running before he took control of them. In addition, the court directed him to allow his wife back into their bedroom, effectively putting an end to the three-year-long saga.

This case highlights the complexities of marital disputes and the extreme lengths some individuals go to when grappling with issues of trust and infidelity. While the court has ruled in Memory’s favor, the emotional scars from years of sleeping in the passage are likely to take time to heal, marking another chapter in the ongoing struggle for justice in cases of domestic strife.
