Zanu PF Now Regional Cancer, Party Meddling In Botswana Elections After Mozambique Operation: Sikhala

FORMER Zengeza West and St Mary’s legislator, Job Sikhala has warned Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu PF, against exposing Zimbabweans in the diaspora by interfering in other nations’ domestic governance.

The tough-talking opposition politician, who is the current chairman of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), was commenting on a rally held recently in Botswana, at which former president Ian Khama said Zanu PF has deployed agents to rig the forthcoming elections in that country.

Plebiscites in Botswana are due to be held on October 30, 2024, with incumbent leader President Mokgweetsi Masisi seeking reelection.

Sikhala alleges Zanu PF party led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is chairman of the regional Southern African Development Community (SADC) bloc, has been involved in the rigging of the recent elections in Mozambique.

He also points out the party’s nocturnal involvement in South Africa’s polls held in May this year.

“As Zimbabweans, we are being risked being hated everywhere in the region because of a stinking party that loves to interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries.

“They are the loudest to cry against interference in the domestic affairs of our own country but found practising exactly the same in other nations,” said Sikhala, who recently spent 595 days in pretrial detention.

“The rigging cancer has been spread throughout the region. Everyone is crying against the activities of Zanu PF,” he added.

“They must not create problems for our people living in those countries through their activities in the region. They are no different from those countries sponsoring terrorism in other regions!!!”

Recently, a significant number of Zanu PF supporters, including a former councillor, voted in Mozambique’s general elections.

The news has put into question credibility of the poll outcome that now favours Mozambique’s ruling Frelimo party candidate, Daniel Chapo.

Frelimo is the main party that fought for Mozambique’s liberation and has maintained a close relationship with its sister party Zanu PF, having facilitated its use of bases in the eastern country during Zimbabwe’s own fight for self-governance.

Hundreds turned out in Masvingo, Chegutu, Mutare and Harare to cast their votes, with allegations the alleged fraud was witnessed across the country.

Former Zanu PF councillor, Edison Manyawi, surprisingly bragged about himself voting for Frelimo on camera, despite it being illegal.

“We are happy with what we did because Mozambique is our neighbour and helped us during the liberation struggle, so we would not hesitate to help them win the elections,” said Manyawi.Sikhala is on record saying Zanu PF is now a danger to SADC’s regional peace and security.

“This political party has become a danger to all SADC countries,” said Sikhala.

“We saw them in South Africa’s elections where all parties voiced their disapproval on their presence in their country, during the May elections.

“Here we are having them voting in Mozambique’s elections.”Sikhala claimed to have intelligence on Zanu PF’s active role in manipulating Botswana and Zambia’s upcoming elections.

Added Sikhala: “In Zambia, they are trying to resuscitate the dead and scandal riddled Edgar Lungu. They have no shame.”

Lungu, a longtime ally of Zanu PF, was ousted by incumbent Hakainde Hichilema, who has been a thorn in Mnangagwa’s flesh hence the ruling party’s support for the latter.

Hichilema became the first SADC chairperson to give an adverse report on Zimbabwe’s elections since formation of the regional bloc despite the country’s series of questionable polls since the turn of the millennium. The report worsened relations between him, Mnangagwa and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa who all backed their fellow liberation fighter. *NewZW*
