Harare Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing Landlord
A 29-year-old man, Learnmore Mutukwa, appeared in court this week facing charges of attempted murder following a violent altercation with his landlord.
The case was heard by Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who has remanded Mutukwa in custody until November 6 for a routine court appearance.
According to state allegations, the incident unfolded late one night when Mutukwa returned home to find the gate locked.
In an attempt to gain access, he reportedly jumped over the precast wall surrounding the property. The landlord, alerted by the noise, went outside to investigate and confronted Mutukwa, who was allegedly inebriated.
The landlord cautioned Mutukwa against climbing the wall, but this warning seemingly provoked him. In a fit of rage, Mutukwa allegedly retreated to his room, fetched a knife, and subsequently stabbed his landlord.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the violent nature of the incident, raising concerns about safety and conflict resolution between landlords and tenants.
Court proceedings will continue as the investigation unfolds and more details emerge.
