Otis Zimvumi (32) thought it was pure luck to recover his groceries which were mistakenly left in the bus; but for Mukumba brothers bus loaders it was a daily norm to safeguard customer’s property.
Zimvumi, an employee at Platinum Radio Station, safely recovered his groceries which he had left on the bus while travelling from Harare to Nyanga.
He instructed his little brother to board a direct bus from Harare to Nyanga for the safety of their groceries and himself since it was his first time to use public transport.
Zimvumi was later informed by his brother that he missed the bus during recess time after he failed to return in time and the bus left him behind.
He quickly contacted Mukumba brothers management to get mobile numbers for the bus crews.
His efforts were fruitful.
“The efforts done by management for me to recover my groceries is still a shock. I used to believe that most bus crews steal passenger’s goods,” said Zimvumi.
In a telephone interview with the ObserverZim yesterday on how their crews works in solidarity, Harvest Nyavanhu the senior supervisor for bus loaders said the crews for long distances buses were well- trained to offer good customer care with the public for the continuity of the business.
“Customers who report issues of lost properties in time mostly recover their goods, unlike those who report after a prolonged period.
“It is part of our duties as bus loaders to help our customers with the information in recovering lost properties,” said Nyavanhu.
He was happy that senior driver Majaji Gonzo communicated well with the other bus that was missed so that then could meet in Nyanga township to enable the passenger to recover his groceries.
