Zanu PF meeting turns dramatic as Chiwenga pitches up with own water bottle

The fight between President Mnangagwa and his deputy Chiwenga just got more obvious. Today at the ZANU PF Central Committee meeting, Chiwenga showed up with his own water in a special 1000ml stainless steel bottle.

People close to Mnangagwa say this was no accident – they think Chiwenga did it on purpose to show he doesn’t trust them. When they offered him their water bottle, he wouldn’t even touch it.

This isn’t the first time water has caused drama in Harare. Just recently, Zambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe did the same thing at the SADC Summit because things weren’t good between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The water drama comes right in the middle of ZANU PF’s big yearly meeting. Yesterday’s Politburo meeting was already tense, and now this. The party seems split into two camps – Team Mnangagwa and Team Chiwenga.

Everyone knows Mnangagwa should leave office in 2028 when his second term ends, and Chiwenga should take over. But rumors say Mnangagwa is trying everything he can to stay longer.

A water bottle might not seem like much, but in Zimbabwe’s politics, even small things tell big stories. When the second most powerful person in the country won’t drink water provided at his own party’s meeting, you know something’s wrong.
