Communities Urged To Support Female Authors

By Lloyd Mwale

Zimbabwean communities have been called on to support and uplift female authors so as to create spaces for women voices to be heard and shared for the benefit of the world.
The call was made by Elijah Tambala, Men-Believe Provincial Chairperson for MashWest, who was the Guest of Honour during the launch of two books by two female authors at a local hotel in Kadoma recently.
The books, The Mystical Mutumwa by Ophar Bizabani and The Fools speaks, The wise man Listens by Susan Tembo were simultaneously launched at a colourful event which drew a cross section of Kadoma sons and daughters
“Today we gather to celebrate the power of literature and impact it has on our lives, we celebrate the voices of women, who have been silenced for a longtime, marginalized and oppressed for a long time, we celebrate their courage and resilience of these authors, Susan and Ophar who have dared to share their stories, their experiences and their perspectives with the world
As we launch these books, we are not just launching words on paper, we are launching movement, a movement that promotes empowerment, equality and justice, a movement that says “We Will No Longer Be Silenced, We Will No Longer Be Marginalized and We Will No Longer Be Oppressed”
So as communities, let us continue to support and uplift female authors, female leaders and female change-makers let us continue to create spaces for female voices to be heard and women stories to be told and for women’s perspectives to be shared and let us continue to challenge systems that seek to silence and marginalize women and push for policies and programs that promote women empowerment, equality and justice!” said Men-Believe MashWest Provincial Chairperson.
The two books went under the hammer for US150 to the highest bidder.
