Self -styled King Munumutapa Arrested For Undermining And Insulting President

Born Timothy Chiminya , a self -styled King Munumutapa has been arrested and charged with undermining the authority of the President .

Chiminya was arrested on 16 December for acting unlawful by purporting to appoint chiefs which is not his role to do that without the authority of the President. Mr Chiminya appeared before Rotten Row Magistrate Sheunesu Matowa yesterday 18 December and remaded him in custody to 7 January 2025 to allow government medical doctors to conduct mental stability on him after prosecutors doubted his mental being.

Recently in Harare, the self -styled King Munumutapa held a press conference announcing that he has been ordained officially as King Munumutapa which defines that he now has powers to tell President ED Mnangagwa what he wants to be done in Zimbabwe. He went further and said he is going to dissolve and fire all the chiefs which were appointment without his authority.

Chiminya was represented by ZLHR lawyer Gift Mutisi. He is also accused of dethroning chiefs in some parts of Zimbabwe who were legitimately appointed by the President. ” He fired me ( Chiminya) from my post and I asked him who are you to fire me from being a legitimately appointed Chief ” said one of the victims who requested to remain anonymous.

Last week on Thursday, the son of self -styled King Munumutapa, Rest Chiduku was arrested in Bulawayo for allegedly masquerading as a government official . Rest Chiduku, was visiting shops and bars in Bulawayo central business district checking operating licences.

The arrest of Rest Chiduku came after the public reported to the police that they were suspecting a bogus man going around checking and extorting shop and bar owners masquerading as a government official. Pictures of Chiduku in handcuffs were posted on ZANU PF youth league Facebook page , youths warning the public to be careful of the criminals moving around claiming to be government officials.

In few weeks ago the self -styled King Munumutapa fired his national spokesperson Chief Bekezela Bhekimpi Nyathi after Chief Nyathi had advised him to respect the government and the President ED Mnangagwa and not to comment on political issues.

After Chief Nyathi was fired by Chiminya, he appointed his son Rest Chiduku to represent Matebeleland province highlighting that Chief Nyathi is not interested in working with his son , Rest Chiduku the conman
