ZRP warn drivers against speeding over Easter holidays
Bulawayo police Officer Commanding Assistant Commissioner Tambudzai Bibian Gumpo has warned long distance bus drivers against speeding during the Easter holidays.
To maximise on profits, drivers tend to speed and ferry as much passengers as possible, risking the lives of the people on board, said Ass Comm Gumpo.
She was addressing travellers and bus drivers at Renkini Bus Terminus on Good Friday.
“To all bus drivers please do not make yourself and your passengers fatal road accident statistics because you decided to speed on the roads,” said Ass Comm Gumpo.
She also warned those travelling to rural homes and resort holiday destinations against posting about their whereabouts on social media.
“Before travelling notify police at your local police station so that our officers can pass by home during night patrols. It’s also to avoid leaving house keys under door mates as criminals can easily access those keys and steal your household property,” she said.
“As police we noticed a tendency where people post about their whereabouts giving criminals vital information on which homes to target for break-ins,” she added. *_-Chronicle_*
