MashWest Promotion Match Hangs in Balance

Zifa MashWest Division 2 East champions and Chegutu-based football outfit, Berks Division One promotion playoffs game against Chinhoyi Rangers in Karoi hangs in balance after most of Berks player’s contracts expired on 31 December 2024.

In an interview with Berks FC Chairperson, Guy Musviki revealed that most of their players’ contracts expired last December and it was an uphill task to raise a team to travel to Chikangwe stadium for the last promotion playoffs match against Chinhoyi Rangers next week.

“As Berks football we were not aware of yet another round of promotion playoffs,”  Musviki said.

“Wehought we had wrapped it up when we beat Golden Valley 2-1 in Chinhoyi stadium last December only to be informed this week that there would be another round of promotion playoffs with Chinhoyi Rangers in Chikangwe stadium in Karoi.

“We thought that the criteria used in 2023 was to be applied when CC Mhangura and Norton Community were promored into Northern Region Division One.”
