I Will Revamp ZIFA, All Systems To Be Digitalized: Twine Phiri Aspiring Zifa President

Twine Phiri, the former Premier Soccer League chairperson, on Saturday 4 January 2025 officially launched his campaign for the 2025 ZIFA presidency. Phiri is one of six candidates who passed the integrity test, making him eligible to run for the top position.

As a seasoned football administrator, Phiri emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to resolving ZIFA’s problems. He has urged stakeholders to unite and work together to progress Zimbabwean football.

Phiri will face stiff competition from other contenders, including Marshall Gore, Philemon Machana, Nqobile Magwizi, Martin Kweza, and Makwinji Phiri. The ZIFA elective congress is scheduled to take place on January 25, 2025, in Harare .

Key aspects of Phiri’s campaign include his commitment to fostering unity, integrity, and progress within the Zimbabwean football community. He has also highlighted the importance of corporate governance and standard corporate governance tenets in transforming ZIFA into a viable and professional football entity.

“I will digitalize all Zifa system so that it would be easier for everyone to access any information he/ she requires, i will engage different stakeholders for sponsorship and i know that a lot of Zimbabweans love soccer and are kin to sponsor if there is transparency especially in terms of the use of funds, i will end corruption and promote women’s soccer” said Twine Phiri.

Twine Phiri , during his tenure as Caps United FC chairman, played a crucial role in transforming Caps United into a formidable force in Zimbabwean football.

As the chairman of Caps United, Phiri helped the club win several trophies, including the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.

Phiri has also served as the chairman of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), where he played a key role in promoting and developing Zimbabwean football.

During his tenure as PSL chairman, Phiri helped to improve the standard of the league, increase sponsorship, and enhance the overall football experience for fans.

Phiri has also been involved in various FIFA and CAF programs aimed at developing football in Zimbabwe and the region.

Overall, Twine Phiri’s achievements in soccer administration demonstrate his passion, dedication, and leadership skills, which he hopes to utilize in his bid for the ZIFA presidency.
