Prophet Magaya marvels at Malajila

Football great, Cuthbert Malajila caught the attention of visiting Prophet Walter Magaya at Rimuka Stadium this Tuesday when the man of cloth was on a familiarization tour of the facility.

Malajila, a son of the city and football legend was also at the stadium he calls home when the entourage touched base.

During his support pledge, Prophet Magaya said he was elated that the city has such great talent in the mould of Cuthbert and that should not be overlooked. He poured praises on the football great as the two walked hand in hand from the terraces to the dressing rooms.

He also pointed it out directly to the mayor Nigel Ruzario.

“This is a facility for talent such as Cuthbert whom we revere so much as a legend. We cannot let down other up and coming youths from your city. We really need to do this and make it possible for them to scale greater heights,” he said embracing Cuthbert in his arms among an expectant crowd.

Addressing the media, Malajila said he was humbled by the kind gesture and recognition from Prophet Magaya.

“I’m happy for what is coming to our city. We have lots of talent but facilities let us down. We try our best sometimes using personal funds only to reach a limited distance. I have an academy, CUMA FC, that is dear to my heart. I strongly think this institution can afford youngstars a chance to shine.”

Cuthbert has a rich catalogue of football having featured and made a huge mark at top premier league sides, army outfit Chapungu and decorated former champions Highlanders as well as CAF Champions League finalists, Dynamos. He was at some point, Zimbabwe senior football team, Warriors talisman and inspirational captain.

During his playing day, he also plied his trade at Al-Khandar FC in Libya and Club African, Tunisia only to be halted by challenging environments in the north African states.
