Lord Brighton College, A Modern Educational Institution, Holds Rugby Tournament

Lord Brighton College which is situated in Nyabira, yesterday held a seven team Rugby, tournament in compliance with the newly introduced Heritage Based Curriculum ( HBC) by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

 

Lord Brighton College has both junior and high school that envisions a community where excellence thrives, minds are nurtured, and futures are ignited . The college aims to inspire a passion for learning, foster creativity, and cultivate compassionate leaders. They strive for academic excellence, holistic development, and a culture of inclusivity, preparing students to embrace challenges with confidence and innovation.

The college offers a range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography, as well as elective courses like Information Technology, Music, and Foreign Languages . They also emphasize practical skills, such as basic survival, gardening, cooking , athletics , karate , Taekwondo and Rugby

“We as Lord Brighton College, we embrace all learners , whether they are academically gifted or not through the heritage based curriculum which aims to equip learners with knowledge, skills, and competencies that will enable them to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development” explained Mr Denis P Takaza , School Head.

“We teach languages and literature so that we emphasize and promote local literature, we teach humanities and social sciences focusing on Zimbabwean history , culture and values . We also teach science , technology and engineering , arts and culture, physical education and sports and life skills, equipping learners with entrepreneurship and financial literacy ” added Mr Takaza. LBC offers Cambridge curriculum although they also appreciate heritage based curriculum ( HBC)

Winners for the tournament were as follows: Girls category, Goromonzi high school got first price and went away with gold medal followed by Lord Brighton College which got silver medal. In Boys category LBC got first price and went with gold medal followed by Dolphins who got silver medal and the third Goromonzi high school got bronze medal.

Among the schools that participated were the host Lord Brighton College, Genesis college, Little Giants, Goromonzi , Dolphins , Hatchlifee and WISE OWL college. The event was graced by multitudes of parents, government officials including schools inspectors Mr Matsopo and Mr Biningu for Zvimba district.
