In the heart of Zimbabwe’s Lowveld, a new musical talent is emerging from the streets of Chiredzi. Tracklinair, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter, is making waves among local ghetto youths with his unique sound and style.
Born Nyasha Mutangirwa, Tracklinair’s journey to stardom began in the same streets that nurtured Grammy award-winning songwriter, Brian Soko. Soko, credited with writing global hits like Beyonce Knowles’ “Drunk in Love” in 2014, is a testament to the ghetto’s ability to produce world-class talent.
Tracklinair’s music is deeply rooted in his experiences growing up in the Chiredzi ghetto. Growing up in Chiredzi, Tracklinair was surrounded by music. He listened to the sounds of Zimbabwean legends like Oliver Mtukudzi and Thomas Mapfumo, and was inspired by the likes of Qounfused, King Shady, and Winky D.
Tracklinair’s own music journey began in 2018, when he started writing and recording his own songs. Despite facing rejection and criticism from his classmates when he shared his demo, he persevered, using the negative feedback as fuel to drive him forward.
For Tracklinair, inspiration comes from within. He finds solace in taking time for himself, meditating, and reflecting. “It’s during those moments of introspection that I come up with some of my best ideas,” he says.
When it comes to creating music, Tracklinair is all about the vibe and feeling of the beat. “If the beat is right, and I’m feeling inspired, I’m ready to go,” he says. “No rituals or elaborate preparations are needed – just my voice, my passion, and my creativity.”
Music is more than just a form of self-expression for Tracklinair; it’s a source of energy, comfort, and purpose. “When I’m feeling lonely or uncertain, music is always there to lift me up and give me direction,” he says.
Despite his rapid rise to fame, Tracklinair remains humble and grounded, never forgetting the struggles he faced in his early days. He’s faced challenges such as building relationships with producers and dealing with financial constraints, but he’s determined to push through and make his mark on the music industry.
Currently, Tracklinair is working on a collaboration with another artist from Bulawayo, which promises to be something big and unforgettable.
