Illegal Fleet Operations in Harare: Concerns Raised Over Syndicate Association’s Activities

Concerns have been raised about a syndicate association, “Upcoming Event”, allegedly operating a fleet of vehicles in Harare, picking up commuters at illegal points along Charter Street and at the corner of Mbuya Nehanda Street and Bank Street.

This practice is not only illegal but also poses a significant risk to commuters and other road users.

The association’s operations are said to be backed by a high-ranking officer, who is allegedly protecting the owner, alleged to be a lady named Claris. There have been reports of police officers being aĺlegedly transferred due to her influence, making her seemingly “untouchable”.

Furthermore, some of these kombis operating on the streets are not compliant with traffic laws and by-laws, exacerbating the safety concerns.

The proliferation of illegal transportation services is also symptomatic of a larger issue in Harare, where space barons have taken over all available space, including streets, causing chaos. This practice is allegedly being backed by individuals in higher offices, perpetuating the problem.

The public is urged to exercise caution when using public transportation services and to report any illegal or unsafe practices to the authorities. The authorities must take immediate action to address this issue, ensuring all public transportation operators comply with relevant laws and regulations. *TG Networks*
