Pregnant woman burns lover’s house after he locks her out
CHECHECHE – A Checheche man who refused to let his pregnant girlfriend in after she eloped was left counting his losses after the girlfriend set the house ablaze and destroyed property valued at US$2 273.
Talent Murindwa (25) of Phase 2 Checheche, in Chipinge was arrested on Monday for setting Lovemore Chiwukira’s (34) house on fire.
Manicaland Acting Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident that happened at Chisumbanje to The Mirror.
Talent eloped to Chiwukira’s house and he refused to let her in. Talent spent the night on the veranda and set the house ablaze in the morning after Chiwukira went to work.
Circumstances are that Talent informed Chiwukira that she had fallen pregnant.
Chiwukira allegedly only promised to take care of the child after it was born and refused to look after Talent.
Talent went to Chiwukira’s house on Sunday to iron out their differences. Chiwukira allegedly refused to open his door and Talent slept on the veranda.
The following morning, Chiwukira went to work at Green Fuel and left Talent locked outside.
Talent allegedly used a duplicate set of keys to unlock the doors and set Chiwukira’s blankets on fire. All the household property was burnt to ashes.
Chiwukira reported the matter to Chisumbanje Police Station and Murindwa was arrested for malicious damage of property.
