Harare – The Magistrate court in Harare has passed a not guilty verdict for Mehluli and Bhekimpilo Ncube who were facing charges of being involved in a robbery at Paza Buster Car Dealership.

Regional Magistrate Clever Tsikwa cleared Bhekimpilo Ncube and Mehluli Ncube at the end of the State’s case.

The two alleged robbers were found not guilty after the investigating and arresting officer, Isiah Chikanda failed to prove in court the duo’s involvement in the robbery.

Chikanda, an assistant Inspector and detective in the Zimbabwe Republic Police did not provide sufficient evidence to nail the two.

The court heard on Tuesday from Chikanda that he did not have any exhibits or anything to link the two accused to the robbery charges.

Chikanda could also not link the third accused, Andrew Chenjerai, to the case.

Magistrate Tsikwa postponed his ruling on the application by Chenjerai to have his charges dismissed after the prosecution failed to link him to the case.

The court heard that Chenjerai, who is brother to Paul Chenjerai, the owner of Paza Buster, are in a bitter dispute over the ownership of the company which they started in 1997.

Andrew Chenjerai, the court heard, was pushed out illegally from the company in unexplained circumstances.

Andrew Chenjerai has said the charges of robbery are trumped up and are baseless.

He has said he cannot be involved in robbing a company he has vested interests in.
