Let Us Reprimand Each Other for the Benefit of the Party

By Chiyedzo Josiah Dimbo

In a recent address, Jimayi Muduvuri, a respected member of the National Constultative Assembly (NCA), called on ZANU PF members to take responsibility for one another’s actions and reprimand any behavior that threatens the unity and reputation of the party. Muduvuri’s remarks came in the wake of controversial statements made by former Central Committee member, Blessed Geza, who was recently expelled from ZANU PF after openly calling for the resignation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, despite the fact that the President had been elected to serve a five-year term.

Muduvuri highlighted that such reckless utterances, especially from someone of Geza’s stature, cast a negative light on Kadoma District in Mashonaland West Province. Kadoma, a district with a long history of political activism and loyalty, should not be associated with divisive rhetoric and personal agendas. According to Muduvuri, this behavior serves only to weaken the unity of ZANU PF and distract from the party’s larger goals of advancing Zimbabwe’s interests on both national and international fronts.

Geza’s statements, which were made before his expulsion, reflect what Muduvuri describes as a power-hungry individual driven by personal motivations rather than the welfare of the people. Geza, once a Member of Parliament for Sanyati, has become notorious for his actions that Muduvuri claims are rooted in a personal agenda rather than a genuine desire for national progress. His call for the President to step down is seen not as a move for the greater good, but as an attempt to push forward his own failed political aspirations.

Instead of focusing on internal party struggles and protesting against the President of Zimbabwe, Muduvuri argues that Geza and others like him should redirect their energies towards fighting for the rights of the ordinary people of Zimbabwe. One of the key causes Muduvuri points to is the issue of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, which have caused significant harm to the country’s economic and social fabric. Rather than undermining the leadership, Muduvuri urges former members like Geza to rally together and organize peaceful demonstrations against these unjust sanctions, especially those imposed outside the United Nations’ mandate.

In his call for reprimanding each other, Muduvuri emphasized the importance of holding one another accountable. He argued that ZANU PF members should not shy away from reprimanding behavior that harms the party’s reputation and interests. It is vital, Muduvuri believes, for party members to act as a unified front, working together for the benefit of the country and the people of Zimbabwe. Disunity within the party only serves to play into the hands of external forces seeking to undermine the progress that the party has worked so hard to achieve.

Muduvuri added that ZANU PF is a formidable, united, solid, well oiled and disciplined party under the able leadership of HE ED Mnangagwa, VPs Chiwenga, Mohadi and Party National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri and people who want to divide ZANU PF are not welcome.

In conclusion, Muduvuri’s call for reprimanding each other in ZANU PF is not just about maintaining order within the party, but also about safeguarding the country’s long-term interests. It is about fostering an environment of mutual respect, accountability, and commitment to the common good of the Zimbabwean people. By focusing on the collective goals of the party, rather than the personal grievances of individuals, ZANU PF can continue to advance Zimbabwe’s cause on the world stage.
