Mechanic sodomises son to boost business

A MOTOR mechanic based at Rukweza Business Centre in Nyazura who was allegedly advised by a traditional healer to sodomise his son to boost his business was jailed for 20 years.

The 40-year-old man whose name was withheld to protect the identity of the victim, took the advice from a traditional healer, and went on to abuse his 13-year-old son.

To make sure that the devious plans succeeds, he first harassed his wife — the teenager’s mother until she left their matrimonial home.

He then took advantage of his wife’s absence to abuse the teenager.

The teenager could not stand the abuse, and ran away from their homestead, and resorted to living on the streets of Rusape.

The disgraced father, who was not represented when he appeared before Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Francis Mapfumo, did not waste the court’s time and pleaded guilty to the charges.

Asked by Mr Mapfumo why he committed such an offence, the convict said he was judiciously following the traditional healer’s advice with a view to boost his business.

“I approached a traditional healer trying to find ways on how I can grow my business. The traditional healer told me that I should be intimate with my own son. I did exactly that,” he said.

Mr Mapfumo did not have any kind words for him, saying his moral blame worthiness was very high, and sentenced him to the maximum of 20 years in jail for aggravated indecent assault.

He did not suspend any part of the sentence.

Prosecutor, Mr Marlon Makamba told the court that the father started abusing his son from November 2024 until March 2025, when the teenager fled from the homestead.

“Sometime between November 2024 and March 2025, the accused person abused the complainant on several occasions. The complainant later went missing from home. The matter came to light after the complainant was located by his mother at Evergreen Market in Rusape.

“The mother interviewed the complainant, and he revealed that his father was abusing him. The complainant was medically examined at Rusape General Hospital, and the medical report can be produced in the court,” said Mr Makamba. ManicaPost
