Pensioners Welfare Trust invites pre-pensioners and pensioners to enroll in its economic empowerment projects

The Zimbabwe Pensioners Welfare Trust (ZPWT), an economic development lobby group, has embarked on a nationwide campaign to empower pre and retired pensioners in the country by sourcing loans for them to start income- generating projects to improve their livelihoods.

The Welfare Trust is offering several income generating projects to pensioners countrywide in a move set to empower pensioners and reduce financial constraints which most pensioners face after retirement

In a statement, the lobby group said pensioners were encouraged to register with the organisation and enroll in various income generating iniatitives tjey offer. The initiatives will improve their welfare.

“By joining ZPWT, one can access various benefits and support services designed to improve their welfare and quality of life,” reads the statement.

The Pensioners Welfare Trust revealed that if was sourcing funds from various organisations and supporting partners to fund various projects meant to empower pensioners in borehole drilling, agriculture, manufacturing and several other initiatives on offer.

The Trust is working to facilitate loans for some of its members for the following projects: Borehole drilling, residential stands, fish farming, production of detergents, supply and instal solar products, organic fertilizer inputs cheme, and poultry farming.

“Soft loans will be provided for these projects,” said ZPWT.

The Trist already has several projects in agriculture underway in various parts of the country which have gone a long way in improving the financial standing of the empowered pensioners participating.

“We have work in progress, such cattle fattening, goat rearing, beekeping, pig production and rabbit upkeep. These projects have really changed the welfare of most pensioners who are enrolled in the initiatives,” reads the statement.

To join, individuals pay a one-time joining fee of $5 and complete a membership form. One also needs go pay a monthly subscription fee of $2 which is deducted directly from pensions and SSB.

The Zimbabwe Pensioners Welfare Trust (ZPWT) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering government pensioners and pre-pensioners (those nearing retirement, such as civil servants). As a membership-based organization, it offers support and benefits to its members.
