According to The Herald, four men have been arrested in connection with a break-in at her electronics shop located at the upscale Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale, Harare. The suspects — Blessed Luciano, Isaac Craig Chaza, Strive Matangira, and Succeed Mukaro — reportedly stole mobile phones worth US$13,420.

Police moved swiftly. The quartet was nabbed on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, by detectives from the CID in Borrowdale.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests. He said most of the stolen mobile phones have been recovered, although the exact value was not disclosed.New members who wish to receive daily news updates from Ignite Media Zimbabwe should WhatsApp ‘join’ to 071 9999 012.
“The suspects were arrested yesterday, and most of the stolen mobile phones have been recovered,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

This break-in follows a series of high-profile robberies that have rocked the country this year.

In one such case, the parents of newly appointed International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry were robbed of US$90,000 worth of cash and valuables. The suspects — brothers John and Mike Nongwe — were arrested after what police described as “intense investigations.”

Another brazen heist took place on 18 March at businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s in-laws’ farm in Marondera. Twenty armed robbers stormed the property in the early hours of the morning, making off with US$75,000 in cash, money believed to be part of the bride price Chivayo paid for his wife Lulu during their traditional wedding on 8 March.

And in February, four armed men stole a brand-new Mazda BT-50 from Zanu PF senior official Patrick Chinamasa’s farm. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Murehwa.
