TRAGEDY AT SCHOOL: Teacher hangs self, Leaves phone numbers as note
A QUIET morning at Kwite Primary School in Mangwe turned into a scene of horror after a Grade 5 teacher was found hanging inside his quarters.
His final message was a note with just phone numbers of relatives.
Shelton Kasere Lubimbi (34) ended his life on Thursday, 3 July, during school break time. His body was discovered dangling from a roof truss around 10AM by a shocked colleague.
There was no written explanation, no farewell words, just a piece of paper with contact numbers for relatives, now left to face the painful questions he never answered.
The matter was reported to Mangwe Police Station and the body was taken to Plumtree Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Chiratidzo Dube confirmed the tragic incident and urged communities not to ignore signs of emotional distress.
“We urge people to take mental health seriously and engage in open conversations. If someone shows suicidal tendencies, do not brush it off. Seek professional counselling and support,” she said.
Investigations are still underway to uncover what pushed Lubimbi to take his life in such a devastating manner. B-Metro
