ONE-NIGHT STAND HEIST! Parklands seductress fleeces suitor of US$71k ride and cash
BULAWAYO’S dating scene has been rocked by a stranger-than-fiction bedroom raid that left a love struck motorist minus his wallet and his prized Toyota Tundra.
Police have confirmed the arrest of 22 year old Nicole Dube of New Parklands after a whirlwind tryst turned into a high value theft worthy of a Hollywood script.
According to investigators, on Tuesday evening the 37 year old complainant picked up Dube in Parklands and swiftly proposed love. The charmed pair headed to his Khumalo home, knocked back beers, enjoyed supper and retired to the bedroom around 10 pm.
While her new “boyfriend” slept, Dube slipped out of bed, fished a wallet holding US$1 000 from his trouser pocket, grabbed the keys to his US$70 000 Toyota Tundra and vanished into the night.
The unsuspecting host woke just after midnight to an empty bed, an empty driveway and a gaping hole in his durawall where the Tundra had smashed its way out. Moments later an anonymous caller tipped him that his bakkie had hit a slab and was stuck under a tower light near Chicken Inn Tredgold.
He rushed to the scene and found the Tundra, but Dube had fled.
Not satisfied with her haul, the daring thief doubled back in a taxi at 2 am. Spotting a BMW in the yard, she fired up its engine only to be confronted by the gardener, who raised the alarm.
The owner dashed outside to find Dube still in the compound. He quickly apprehended her and marched her to Donnington Police Station.
Police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the total value stolen was US$71 000, and almost all of it has been recovered.
“Members of the public should be cautious about whom they invite into their homes. Some people have hidden agendas that can prove very costly,” warned the inspector.
Nicole Dube is expected to appear in court soon to face charges of theft of a motor vehicle and theft of cash. B-Metro
