Renovations Underway At Student Nurses Residence And Mbuya Nehanda Maternity At Parirenyatwa

Renovations are underway at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, specifically at the Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital and
the student nurses’ residence, Adlam House.

The project is being undertaken by Prevail International.

Demolitions at Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital are almost 90% complete, paving the way for major upgrades.

Renovation at Mbuya Nehanda Maternity is at 15% complete, with aluminum window installations and plumbing fittings already underway.

“We are doing a state-of-the-art facility with improved patient reception areas, nurseries, and infection control systems. The hospital will be redesigned to be more functional and welcoming, with relocated air ducts to enhance hygiene,” said Vanessa Butao Prevail project manager.

Adlam House Student Nurses Residence Renovations have reached 70% completion, with expectations to hand over the facility by September 1, 2025. Critical plumbing work has been done, electrical system upgrades, new flooring and ceilings, and installation of a 120kW solar system for sustainable energy supply are already in place.

“We have some additional amenities like swimming pool for recreational use which shall have solar heated water during winter. The modern accommodation will enhance the living conditions for the 353 female student nurses that can be accommodated in the building.

“These renovations are part of the government’s efforts to modernize Zimbabwe’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring effective healthcare delivery for all. The projects aligns with President Mnangagwa’s pledge to prioritize the rehabilitation and modernization of public health infrastructure,” said Miss Tariro Dondo, Prevail Public Relations Manager.
