Musona signs with Scottland FC, set to end career in Zimbabwe

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Former Zimbabwe national team captain Knowledge Musona has signed with Scottland FC, marking the first time he will play professional football in his home country.

Scottland FC confirmed the signing of the 35-year-old forward during their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Yadah at Rufaro Stadium on Monday. The club said Musona will finish his career with them.

“Warriors legend, Knowledge Musona, will end his playing career at Scottland FC after signing a deal with us. This becomes Musona’s first professional club on the domestic scene,” the club said in a statement.

Musona joins as a free agent following his release from Saudi Pro League side Al-Okhdood at the end of the 2024–25 season. He made 30 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

At Scottland FC, Musona will reunite with his national teammate Khama Billiat and younger brother Walter Musona. The trio is expected to boost Scottland’s title push in their debut season in Zimbabwe’s topflight.

Musona, nicknamed the “Smiling Assassin,” had a storied career abroad. He left Zimbabwe in 2009 without playing in the local league, joining South African giants Kaizer Chiefs from Aces Youth Academy. After a successful stint with Chiefs, he moved to Germany’s TSG Hoffenheim in 2011 and later featured in Belgium for RSC Anderlecht and KAS Eupen.

In 2023, Musona moved to Saudi Arabia, where he ended his international retirement and represented Zimbabwe in 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
