29-Year-Old Man Arrested Over “Ritual” Murder In Norton
A 29-year-old man appeared in court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a Norton resident earlier this week.
Police said the body of Patrice Tinashe Chipaumire (40) was found along a footpath near Knowe-Katanga Road on Monday.
Pardon Jena (29) appeared before Norton magistrate Mitchell Panavanhu and was remanded in custody.
According to prosecutor Flossie Chigudu, around 2 AM on Monday, Jena left Seaways Bar with Chipaumire and headed home.
A misunderstanding reportedly occurred near Kufa Garage, though the cause is unknown.
Jena allegedly stabbed Chipaumire once in the neck, causing him to collapse, and then mutilated his private parts and left cheek.
Chipaumire’s body was discovered at the scene around 6 AM by a passerby, who alerted the police.
Jena was subsequently arrested near the Petrotrade Garage at Katanga Shops.
