Outrage as Chiweshe Man Allegedly Rapes 5-Year-Old and Infects Her with STI

A 33-year-old man from Chiweshe allegedly raped a five-year-old girl and infected her with a sexually transmitted infection.

The matter came to light at the Bindura Regional Court on Thursday when the suspect, Martin Nyamutamba, appeared before Magistrate Amos Mbobo.

Prosecutor Clever Nyapfani alleged that sometime in April, the minor was sent by her grandmother to the suspect’s house to collect some dried kapenta. After giving her the kapenta, Nyamutamba allegedly went on to rape her and warned her not to tell anyone.

The case was discovered when the minor, who was on holiday at her grandfather’s home, returned to her parents’ place. Her mother noticed some discharge on her private parts. Upon questioning, the child revealed the rape and was escorted to the police station to file a report. Standard
