Mutare teenager jailed 8-months for raping a road-runner chicken
The Mutare Magistrates Court has sentenced 19-year-old Carrington Mutasa to 8 months in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a hen.
The court suspended 3 months of the sentence for a period of 5 years, while the remaining 5 months will be served on the condition that he completes 175 hours of community service.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident occurred on September 16, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM, when Mutasa unlawfully entered the property of a resident in Piki Village, Chief Zimunya.
Finding the home unoccupied, he accessed the victim’s fowl run and assaulted one of the hens.
The act was witnessed by the victim’s granddaughter, who immediately reported the incident to her grandmother. Upon inspection, the victim discovered that the hen had sustained severe injuries and had a large hole on its cloaca area.
Following this revelation, the victim informed her neighbours, who assisted in apprehending Mutasa. He subsequently confessed to the act.
A report was filed at the Zimunya Police Post, resulting in Mutasa’s arrest and prosecution.
Local authorities are emphasizing the need to protect animals and promote responsible treatment within the community.
