Robert Mugabe Jnr remanded in custody
HARARE provincial magistrate Mrs Lisa Mutendereki has remanded Robert Mugabe Junior in custody on charges of unlawfull possession of dangerous drugs.
The State, led by Mandirasa Chigumira, opposed bail, arguing that the prevalence of drug and substance abuse now poses a threat to national stability and development.
Mugabe’s lawyer Mr Ashliegh Mugiya submitted that his client is not a flight risk as he is of fixed aboard.
Mugiya told the court that his client is a proper candidate for bail.
Mrs Mutendereki deferred the matter to tomorrow for bail ruling.
Its alleged that on Tuesday, October 1, 2025, at around 8pm,police officers from ZRP Avondale were deployed on a traffic blitz along Second Street Extension, Harare, when they stopped the accused, who was driving a silver Honda Fit vehicle (registration number AGY 5850) against traffic enroute to town.
A search was carried out in his black sling bag which was on his chest, leading to a seizure of two sachets of dagga, one pack of rolling paper and a white dagga crusher.
He was subsequently arrested.
The court heard that Mugabe was issued with an Exhibit Seizure Confirmation Receipt Serial, which he refused to sign.
The seized two sachets of dagga were weighed at Harare Main Post in the presence of Mugabe.
They weighed 72 grammes.
A weighing certificate was obtained to the effect and can be produced in court as exhibit.
The seized dagga has a street value of US$30. Herald
